Short Description

Now or Later is a Zelda-inspired 3D action-adventure game where every enemy and object you destroy with the Lotus Staff doesn't stay gone - it all comes back at once, and you'd better be ready when it does.

Long Description

In the Kingdom of Hydrosia, a frog named Arlo wields the Lotus Staff — a weapon that vaporizes enemies and objects on contact. It feels like victory. It feels like clearing a path. It is an instant win button. But nothing the Staff destroys is actually gone — it's only postponed. Everything vaporized over the course of the adventure will return, all at once.

Now or Later asks a simple question with an uncomfortable answer: would you fight differently if you knew they'd all come back? Players explore Hydrosia, run errands for a sickly king and build relationships with characters like Claire the mobile food snail — all while the game quietly keeps score of what's owed.

Built entirely from scratch by a single developer — code, 3D art, shaders, music, and sound design all done in-house — Now or Later blends classic action-adventure structure with a mechanic that turns the player's own aggression into the central twist.

About BRD Games

BRD Games is the solo dev studio of Ben Dowdle, who taught himself Godot, Blender, and FL Studio. All of these tools were used to make Now or Later. And Ben still has a lot more to learn.

Outside of game development, Ben works a full time job as an auto-mechanic alongside his Father. This has provided the background that shows up in the same hands-on, figure-it-out-yourself approach he's brought to building this game alone.

Ben also has 2 kids and a beautiful wife that have supported him through the 3+ years of chasing his dream of becoming a full time game developer.
